>How Can WeGoCentricHelp You? Think of yourself, the playwright part of you, as a business. It might be a small business, but it is a business, nonetheless. Of course you are an artist, too. But for most artists, in order to be fulfilled, your art needs to be exposed to the public. Think of WeGoCentric as a business-to-business, service-based company, with writers paying fees for the services they desire to achieve those goals. As an example, a writer might want to have a private group table reading of their play. Or if a table reading has already been one, they might want to see a workshop or a staged reading of the play performed in front of an audience. Maybe even a full production. Of course there are a number of theatres that produce such events, but the number of writers waiting in line for their opportunity is even greater. Also in many cases, writers may not have connections with actors and directors and theatres to get it done all on their own. WeGoCentric would draw up a budget and present it to the authors. If accepted, WeGoCentric would handle all aspects of coordinating the reading, workshop or full production whatever is called for, with the writer covering the expenses. In some cases, WeGoCentric might aid the writer in finding an existing theatre company to co-produce the workshop or reading, using the writer's funding as “seed” money. Why would a theatre be willing to do this? The cost of producing new work is a very risky financial investment. Seed money sometimes helps theatres or potential producers turn dark nights in theatres into productive enterprises. Another example is a writer who may want to develop a web page to help promote their play. Or a playwright might want some help with the submission process. WeGoCentric can also help you self-publish your play or musical so you can market it to theatres through conventional and non-conventional methods. WeGoCentric applauds the efforts of the many Chicago-based theatre groups who endeavor to promote new work and we look forward to working with them to bring new, talented writers to their stages. But we know that due to time and budgetary constraints, many wonderful works do not receive their opportunity to see the light of day or night as it may be. WeGoCentric hopes to become a bridge that will take your play from the page to the stage and lead you closer to a legitimate production of your play or musical.
